Household Level Marketing

Household level marketing is a method to narrow your focus to a specific household address that has been determine to offer you the best opportunity to attract a new patient to your brand of chiropractic.

The first step in this process is determining whom your best patients are for your brand of chiropractic. You could have two Chiropreneurs run the same analysis and end up with a different profile… all due to the patients you have served.

In America, all households can be coded for 66 segments. In other words, every household in your marketplace can be assigned a household demographic code. Once you have your patient records coded at the household level, and they have been assigned their specific lifestyle code, you can then reach all the desired segments in your marketplace that has the same code.

Once you have determine your best patient segment, you can then target your marketing only to those household level code that match this desired segment code. If you find that the majority of your patients, current and inactive, are defined with 2-3 of the possible segments out of 66, you can then secure a specific mail list of just the households in your marketplace that match your desired household segment.

Your mail list could go to 100 Main Street, 107, 113, 118, 119…. skipping any households that do not match your desired and targeted segment.

This provides you with the ability to drill down your marketing efforts and reduce your marketing budget because you are only mailing to your desired target, not every household on the block, in the city, etc.

If you are a startup or want to change the type of patients you wish to attract, then you can select one or more of the 66 lifestyle segments and then secure a mailing list of just those household that fit your desired patient.

You can also use this segmentation technology to determine the best location for an office or relocation.

In summary, using this technology called Prizm® you should:

1. Submit an address list of all your patient records, active and inactive for household level coding.

2. Identify the segment(s) that provide you with the best patient.

3. Secure a list of the households in your marketplace that matches your best segment(s), not currently under care.

4. Target your marketing communications to these specific households. Repeat. Repeat…

There are a number of vendors who can provide this type of technology using your current list as your baseline. This technique is used by the world’s most successful marketers and you can tap into it for your practice too. Peak your practice with geo-demographic coding.

The Warrior’s Way Review (That Cowboys Vs Ninjas Movie)

Pretty much all one can glean from the trailers for The Warrior’s Way is that it has something to do with cowboys vs. ninjas. No one needs more than that honestly, but the film’s plot turned out to be surprisingly complex. While The Warrior’s Way doesn’t have the smallest budget in the world, it’s clearly a limited one, but the filmmakers spent what they had in all the right places.

Right off the bat, from the first scene to the last, what stood out to me most in The Warrior’s Way were the costumes. The costumes were over the top, and seem to have been inspired by Mortal Kombat and various space western animes like Trigun and Cowboy Bebop. I want one of the dusters that the cowboys wear, I can then officially change my middle name to McAsswhoop.

Beyond some quick action at the beginning of the movie, the first half of The Warrior’s Way is pretty damn slow. Combine this with a weak supporting cast and hit or miss acting, and I became pretty restless for action. The films protagonist, Yang (played by Dong-gun Jang), leaves his country and clan with the last living descendant of their rival clan, due to his inability to murder a baby. Yang ends up heading to the American West to find one of his old friends in a small circus town by the name of Lode. However, upon arrival he discovers that his friend is dead. From there, hardcore laundry service ensues (Don’t question.) The film then introduces a few different factions and the plot gets more complex than I had originally expected.

There are actually two antagonists in The Warrior’s Way. The first is The Sad Flute ninja clan and their leader, appropriately named Saddest Flute. The Sad Flutes are dead set on eliminating the last of their rival clan, and this faction as a whole reminds me of Ra’s Al Ghul’s assassins from Batman Begins. We also have The Colonel and his men, a rogue platoon who periodically hold the town of Lode hostage so the Colonel can rape their young girls. Clearly the Colonel is the enemy easiest to hate. When all three factions collide in the second half of the movie, it gets real.

There are a ton of gimmicks used to shoot The Warrior’s Way, but they are all well executed and seldom repeated. Battles that clearly borrowed from films like 300, Blade, Resident Evil, and the Matrix are brutally violent, and some of the more over the top deaths will have you laughing at their absurdity or cringing in pain. Yang is consistently dodging bullets and slicing his foes into pieces with lightning speed. Although the sword fights aren’t as epic, or as evenly matched, as those you would find in films like Hero or Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon, they are still just as fun to watch.

The CGI in The Warrior’s Way is really hit or miss, and it’s clear the filmmakers distributed their funds carefully in this regard. A generic explosion that serves to push the narrative along may look horrible, like something from an early 90’s PC game, but a complex slow motion melee looks amazing, with blood, bullets, and limbs flying everywhere.

The good forgives the bad in The Warrior’s Way, and although it’s still pretty much what I was expecting, it’s not the disappointment I thought it would be. There have been far worse offerings this year in the action realm (I’m looking at you Expendables), so action fans shouldn’t miss this one.

The Real Von Trapp Family History – Part 1

Perhaps more than any other family in the world, the von Trapps’ history has been immortalized on stage and screen and has captivated the hearts of millions of fans all over the world. No other name conjures up such vivid memories or ardent admiration as does the name “von Trapp”. The legendary story of this musical family’s escape from Nazi Austria is one of the best-loved tales in recent history. But have you ever wondered how much of story told In “The Sound of Music” is exactly as it happened in real life?

In her book, “The Story of the Trapp Family Singers”, Maria von Trapp describes the turn of events which take her from Salzburg’s Nonnberg Abbey to the von Trapp villa as a teacher, and ultimately into her new role as mother to seven growing children. As the movie depicts, Maria Augusta Kutschera was a postulate at the Abbey who caused a few problems for the nuns, and also taught fifth grade to the Abbey’s schoolgirls. Her former life had been one of mountain hikes and constant activity, and she soon developed severe headaches as she transitioned into a cloistered life. Maria’s physician advised that she seek a different lifestyle, and it just so happened that the Reverend Mother had received a request from a certain naval officer for an in-home tutor for his sickly daughter. And thus Maria embarked on her journey into the von Trapp household.

Unlike the famous film’s story, Maria was not intended to be governess to all seven children; but before long Maria’s vivacity and music had brought all the children together in song and activities, and the obligatory separation of the age groups, which was typical for the upper class at that time, ceased to exist. As Maria’s original pupil recovered, she became governess to all seven Trapp children and encouraged them in sports, handiwork, and, of course, music.

Contrary to general thought, the von Trapp children knew much of music, and the Captain is reported to have said that his children often did nothing but sing all day long. But Maria did introduce the family to many Austrian folk songs and taught them to harmonize the parts.

As Maria’s stay with the family continued, the children and the Captain became attached to her and did not relish the thought of the day when she would return to the Abbey. A few things stood in the way of her permanency there, however. Firstly, the Captain felt obligated to continue his courtship with Princess Yvonne, the real life “Baroness Schrader” who was a distant cousin of his deceased wife. Secondly, Maria herself was not in love with the Captain and anticipated her return to her former life. But as matters moved along between the Princess and Captain von Trapp, he realized that he loved Maria and not the Viennese countess. So the day he had planned on proposing to Yvonne, he instead broke off their relationship with intentions of marrying Maria.

How To Market Your Way Out Of A Paper Bag! Marketing Means Action

Most people, from my experience, write a business plan and then file it away. These are the ones I am talking about here who are most likely not able to “market their way out of a paper bag!” They spend time properly researching the market and their competitors but have no focussed plan as to how to effectively use this information to their advantage. What a waste of time! It may have helped them achieve their objective of obtaining funding but a business plan is far more than that. It is should also be a PLAN OF ACTION. The action part should include marketing, social media and sales strategies.

Notice that here I have included social media. This is because in this day and age it should be included as an integral part of any marketing strategy. Along with any strategy there should be a detailed, schedule of actions with deadlines to help keep you on track as you project manage the implementation the development of business through your strategy.

The reason for having a detailed strategy and action plan is to ensure that all your efforts to promote your business and gain sales are focussed and targeted in the areas that will gain you the highest potential. However, a word of warning:

Marketing Is The Prelude To Selling. A sales strategy is also required even if your business is done totally online (online shops are notably more difficult to get off the ground and gain sales than retail shops)

So what should you include in this Marketing Action Plan?

  • Brand image and logo development and design – only one image and logo or you confuse your brand image. Use colour or design to differentiate different parts of the business if required.
  • The design and production of marketing material – business cards, brochures etc.
  • The design and development of your web site – with potential for interaction and sales/bookings where ever possible and applicable.
  • An action plan of events – launch party etc., to promote the business (if required).
  • An action plan of publicity – press releases and a list of media contacts you have made to ensure a better chance of getting free publicity.
  • A contents schedule and action plan for each of your social media platforms – this should include a plan of how you post, share and comment and how often as well as how you will use analytics to assess the effectiveness of your strategy and make changes to improve it.
  • A sales strategy both for online and offline sales – without this all the marketing actions are wasted.

In the same way that you review your business turnover and finances against your cash flow projections, as a means of keeping on course and making necessary adjustments, a month by month analysis of the marketing, social media and sales actions help reduce risk and enhance business growth.

The Madness Chronicles – Episode 52

In our 52nd and last episode of the Madness Chronicles for 2020, we’ll look at the madness growing of our federal agencies being armed to the teeth. Remember, madness is a state of being mentally ill, severely, extremely foolish behavior, and a form of frenzied or chaotic activity. Let’s take a look at some really maddening proposition of our police agencies being better armed than our Marines.

Do you realize in these United States that our federal agencies have more men armed than do our United States Marines? The Fed’s have over 200,000 agents with firearms, the Marines 180,000. And these are the people who want to take our guns.

In the old days, the Internal Revenue Service was a force to be reckoned with because they would show up for an audit and take your stuff. Now, the IRS spent $21.3 million on guns, ammunition, and military style equipment in the past five years. They currently have 2,159 Special Agents to use all that equipment.

Moving over to Health and Human Services, their Inspector General’s office has 1,300 guns, including one shotgun, five submachine guns, and 189 automatic firearms. Apparently, they have a get stringent policy when administering those mega-billions of welfare across the nation. Anyone getting a little concerned yet?

How about the Environmental Protection Agency? Surely they don’t need firearms? Not so fast. The EPA stockpile includes 867,000 rounds of ammunition, 600 guns, and they just spent $61,650 purchasing’ body armor systems’ for 137 special agents. The climate wars must be heating up?

And if you think that is scary, check this out. The National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) has ‘special agents’ equipped with machine guns and AR-15s. And even more terrifying still, we have a museum and zoo force. Say what? The Smithsonian Institution employed over 600-armed officers. And these people receive training from our very own military special operations forces. Why?

The madness continues with the Department of Homeland Security, who are the proud owners of over 250,000 weapons. And this does not include the Transportation Security Administration or TSA. Those friendly men and women at the airports do not disclose any information about their weaponry. Since the TSA has over 50,000 employees in airports across the nation, we can assume they are each packing heat.

In a recent audit covering three years of the Department of Homeland Security, they found the department to be, well, pretty insecure. It seems the DHS lost 228 guns and 1,889 badges, and a mere 25 secure immigration stamps. Don’t you feel better now knowing how well they control their precious goods?

The Veterans Administration is in the mix. The VA spent $25.5 million on security. The expenditures included 11 million rounds of ammunition for their 3,957 security guards. That should be enough to fend off the veterans for awhile.

All of the expenditures mentioned are non-Department of Defense. For instance, the top spender is the Department of Homeland Security who spends right at $100 million a year on weapons, ammunition, and military equipment. Coming in second is the Department of Justice at $50 million a year. Even some you wouldn’t expect are in on the action. Take the Social Security Administration, they spend over $100 thousand a year, as does the Small Business Administration. That is the definition of madness.

2020 ushered in an America on life support. 2020 leaves America removed from life support, waiting to die. It will go down as the year of madness.

May we wake from this madness before it’s too late. I wish you good health, and until next time, have fun, enjoy life, and watch out for the madness amongst us. 2020 is gone, and the Democratic communists are running amok.

The Life and Legacy of John Denver

When I hear the name John Denver, I always think of Colorado. John Denver is a talented American singer, musician, and song maker. John Denver is famous all over the world. His music is known to have been inspired by his home state and the beautiful Rocky Mountain landscape. When Denver was born, he was named Henry John Deutscendorf. The singer/songwriter began his career as a folk rock singer in the early 60s.

Soon after that, Denver joined The Mitchell Trio and become their vocalist. He managed to become a real celebrity when Peter, Paul, and Mary recorded his song “Leaving On A Jet Plane”. This song was their first and only Number One single ever.

John Denver stayed with the Mitchell Trio as their vocalist for four years. After the members of the group are separated, John Denver realized that he had got to the top of the Pop charts and he is one of the best selling artists. “Rocky Mountain High”, “Take Me Home, Country Roads”, “Sunshine On My Shoulders”, “Thank God I’m A Country Boy”, “Back Home Again”, and “Annie’s Song” are just some of his most popular songs.

Denver had not only been a talented musician but also an environmental and humanitarian activist. In his lyrics, John Denver used to support people to get closer to the earth and nature. The artist freely expressed his views in his songs in a peaceful but compassionate manner. His lyrics were inspired by the beauties he had seen living in the Rocky Mountains near Aspen, Colorado.

John Denver had enjoyed watching the snow, the sunshine, the beauty of all of nature. If John Denver had never seen the beauties of the Rocky Mountains in Colorado, probably he would have never written his songs.

John Denver had often worked together with Jim Henson, the creator of the Muppets. Denver even recorded many songs with the cast of the Muppets. He even played a role in a movie – the film was “Oh God!” with George Burns. During the twentieth century, John Denver has continued to be one of the most famous singers.

John Denver passed away suddenly and tragically while he was piloting for the first time his new plane. The aircraft was caused by low fuel.

All his life had been spent close to nature. John Denver had devoted himself to his work, spending all his time singing and songwriting. John Denver had contributed a lot to many environmental and humanitarian organizations. John Denver will last in the hearts of his fans forever although he is not yet among us. Everyone who is interested can learn more about John Denver at http://www.johndenver.com, or http://www.john-denver.org.

Taipei Taiwan Travel Guide for First Timers

If you are planning a trip to Taiwan for the first time, there are several areas worth visiting to make the most of your trip. While there are multiple beautiful, historic areas, the following are my personal favorites for Taipei travel. Please feel free to use this as a sort of personal Taipei travel guide when planning your Taipei vacation.

  • Taipei 101

We start our Taipei tour at Taipei 101. This is a skyscraper located in the Xinyi District. In 2004, it was listed as the world’s tallest building at 1,671 feet. It held that title for 6 years until the Burj Khalifa in Dubai eclipsed Taipei 101 in 2010. The tower boasts 101 stories and features an outdoor observation deck on the 91st floor like the Empire State Building in New York City where you can see beautiful views of the surrounding areas.

The bottom five floors of Taipei 101 feature a luxury shopping mall with upscale shops such as Burberry and Louis Vuitton. On the 88th floor indoor observatory, you can see the 730-ton mass damper, basically a giant ball that acts like a pendulum to counteract the buildings sway during high winds. Without this damper, people on high floors can actually suffer from motion sickness from the constant swaying of the building! Taipei 101 is a city icon that is visible for miles across the city. Every New Year’s, Taipei 101 attracts tens of thousands of visitors to see its spectacular fireworks display.

  • Ximending Shopping

If you are into shopping, you can’t go wrong with Ximending. This is the shopping area in the Wanhua district of Taipei and is considered to be the fashion capital of Taiwan. On weekends, Ximending streets are closed to traffic and becomes a pedestrian shopping mall. The area is popular with street performers of all types and, because it is a hotspot, you can catch celebrities hosting small outdoor concerts, album launches, and other events.

Ximending is also famous for its “Theater Street” where there is a concentration of several movie along Wuchang Street. For history buffs, though, the most famous theater in the district is the Red House Theater which was built in 1908 during Japanese occupation and is still an operational theater with regular performances.

  • Yangmingshan National Park

If beautiful sights are what you look forward to when travelling, then I can’t recommend Yangmingshan enough. It is the largest natural park in Taipei. Yangmingshan is great for hiking and has numerous trails that can last an entire day or just a couple of hours. Popular trails include Seven Stars Peak which will take you to the highest peak in Taipei at 1120 meters (3600 feet) or see the stunning waterfall of the Juansi Waterfall Trail.

Each February through March, Yangmingshan is the site of the Yangmingshan Flower Festival when several varieties of flowers such as azaleas, camellias, and especially cherry blossoms reach their peak bloom. Every evening of the festival, cherry blossom trees are illuminated for a particularly romantic sight. Visitors can also have lunch and dinner at one of many restaurants such as The Top or Grass Mountain Chateau for spectacular vistas of Taipei below.

Between the beauty of the cherry blossoms and the views of the city, Yangmingshan is a well-known romantic spot for lovers all over Taipei. From April to May, when calla lilies reach full bloom, you can pick your own lily flowers for only a few dollars at one of several flower farms.

Lastly, don’t miss out on Yangming Shuwu, also known as Yangming Villa, the beautiful summer retreat of the late president Chiang Kai-shek. Yangming Villa house and gardens are maintained as they were when occupied by Mr. and Mrs. Chiang. The house is a two-story traditional Chinese home, with reception rooms and offices on the first floor and the Chiang’s personal residence on the second floor where their paintings and personal photographs are still displayed. The gardens are especially beautiful in the Spring when the flowers are in bloom. As a bit of trivia, it’s been noted that several bushes are planted in bunches of five – to symbolize the “5-star” rank of General Chiang.

  • National Palace Museum

Next, we find ourselves at the National Palace Museum which opened in 1965. If you love history, this is the place to be! National Palace Museum has a humongous collection of 700,000 permanent exhibits of Chinese Imperial history and artwork that spans over 2000 years plus prehistoric Chinese artifacts and artwork that dates to the Neolithic era, or better known as the “Stone Age”.

The most popular item in its collection is the Jadeite Cabbage. Carved during the 19th century, it is a piece of jadeite that has been shaped to resemble a head of Chinese cabbage and has a locust and a grasshopper camouflaged in its leaves. Legend says the sculpture is a metaphor for female fertility, with the white cabbage stalk representing purity, the green leaves of the cabbage representing fertility, and the insects representing children.

  • Chiang Kai-shek Memorial Hall

Another historically significant landmark on our trek to learn about the history of Taiwan is the Chiang Kia-shek Memorial Hall. This is a national monument that was built in honor of former Republic of China President Chiang Kia-shek. The memorial marks the geographic and cultural center of Taipei. It is the most visited attraction by foreign tourists. The pagoda style memorial hall has a presidential library and museum on the ground level.

The main hall features a large, seated statue of Chiang Kai-shek, much like the Lincoln Memorial in Washington, D.C. The memorial hall and its surrounding Liberty Square plaza encompasses 60 acres and includes many ponds and garden spaces. The plaza also houses two of Taipei’s performance art buildings, the National Theater and the National Concert Hall.

  • Beitou Hot Springs and Public Library

My favorite place to visit while in Taiwan is an area called Beitou. Beitou is a mountainous district north of Taipei City and is most known for its hot springs and its magnificent public library. The mineral waters from the many natural geothermal vents in Beitou are famous for their healing and therapeutic properties. An entire industry of hot springs bathhouses and hotels have sprung up in Beitou offering aroma therapy, massages, and hydrotherapy. There are a lot of places where tourists can soak their feet in the hot springs stream. Be sure to visit the Hot Springs Museum. When it was built in 1913, it was the largest public bathhouse in Asia at that time. Today, the museum offers a glimpse at its bathhouse facilities and Beitou’s history.

Next, visit the Beitou public library. Its wooden structure that fits seamlessly into its Beitou Park setting. Through use of eco-friendly features and design, the library is Taiwan’s first “green” building. The library opened in 2006 and was built to reduce the usage of water and electricity. To do this, architects used large windows to allowing in natural light and a solar panel roof to provide the electricity needed for operation. Also, the library collects rain water to be stored and used to flush its toilets.

  • Tamsui Fisherman’s Wharf

Our final stopping point is Tamsui. Tamsui is located on the western tip of Taipei and our favorite place was the Fisherman’s Wharf. We learned that not only do the restaurants that dot the Fisherman’s Wharf boardwalk provide the freshest seafood available, it also provides breathtaking sunset views. Fisherman’s Wharf still functions as a harbor for local fishermen and they proudly provide harbor for 150 vessels! Our favorite walk is across the “Lover’s Bridge” pedestrian bridge, named as such because it opened on Valentine’s Day 2003.

Its architecture resembles a sailing ship’s masts. It was about a 3-minute walk across the bridge, which at sunset is magnificent. Lover’s Bridge is also a great place to catch the yearly fireworks show and concert that the city hosts each year to celebrate Chinese Valentine’s Day (which occurs in August and not February 14th). Another way to experience Tamsui is to take a ferry from the Tamsui Ferry Pier and disembark at the Fisherman’s Wharf. The ferry is a cheap way to see terrific views of the Tamsui waterfront. A one-way fare costs only $2 USD and takes only about 15 minutes.

Though our Taiwan vacation seems to have been over in the blink of an eye, it was amazing! While there is so much more to see, we feel we made the most of our travels in Taipei. I hope that your trip proves to be just as educational and encompassing as ours.

Reloading Supplies to Get You Started

If you have decided to start reloading your own ammunition for your pistol or rifle you’ve made a wise and cost-efficient choice that might just turn into a satisfying new hobby you will enjoy for many years to come.

The following list details just some of the materials and equipment you need to start reloading.

Reloading Press

Reloading presses come in three types for various types of reloading needs.

• Single stage: Generally considered the best type of reloading press for those starting out or with limited experience, a single stage loading press requires few adjustments and is the least expensive of the three kinds of presses.

• Turret: With turret reloading presses, users can load up to a couple of hundred rounds per hour and allows you to mount multiple dies on the press. An extra hole to mount a powder measure to increase production rates is available on some turret presses. This time-saving machine is ideal for people who want to reload larger batches of ammunition than a single stage press will accommodate.

• Progressive: Ideal for high volume reloading, progressive presses can turn out up to 500 rounds an hour. Most progressive presses need additional set up and maintenance time to properly operate smoothly and safely. Multiple die stations hold dies and powder measures for easy access.

Reloading Manuals

Never reload your ammunition without consulting a reloading manual. Manuals are the recipe books needed to provide exactly what and how much of ingredient to use for your specific reloading application. Bullet types, powder type, and charge amounts for each configuration are listed with all of the reloading supplies you need.

Reloading Dies

Reloading dies are a critical component in the process of precision ammunition reloading. There are a wide variety of dies on the market for any kind of pistol or rifle. Whether you are shooting for precision, versatility, or quantity, make sure you are getting the right reloading die for the application.

Powder Scale

There are electric and traditional balance scales available to accurately measure the amount of powder you need for each reload. Balance scales are easier to calibrate and more suited for beginners. Electronic scales can quicken the process of reloading, but run the risk of electronic interference and are more expensive to purchase and repair.

Calipers

Calipers measure the brass to match your specifications and used to adjust the reloading die to get the bullet to your desired length. Calipers come in a wide variety of quality and price.

Reloading Starter Kits

A reloading starter kit is exactly what it sounds like. If you are just starting to reload your own ammunition or have limited experience, purchasing a starter kit will make sure you have the reloading supplies you need to start saving money immediately. You can replace or supplement specific components of parts or gear as you get more comfortable and have a better understanding of how it works and what works best for you.
